Polish farmers protests 2026 are underway as demonstrators did not receive answers at a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture. Consequently, they resorted to a familiar method of achieving their goals: on Saturday, February 20, more than 100 agricultural vehicles blocked the center of Wrocław.

Polish Farmers Protests 2026: Key Grievances and Economic Struggles

Farmers traditionally complain about Ukraine, Mercosur, low prices, and poor harvests. Moreover, one farmer stated: “There is a lot of grain in storage that we cannot sell. The economic situation is very difficult, farms have no money. In addition, we have to constantly remind people about issues related to Ukraine and Mercosur. We are in a spiral of low prices, and no crop is profitable.”

Government Response and Systemic Solutions

Minister Stefan Krajewski emphasized that he is aware of most of the problems. However, they cannot be solved overnight. Furthermore, he assured that the ministry is in talks with ambassadors from other countries who could buy surplus grain: “Everything cannot be based solely on subsidies. We need to look for systemic solutions. That is why we are also talking about farmers earning money from electricity production. This is a kind of reserve branch that makes it possible to survive the difficult times we are currently experiencing.”

Protest Logistics and Route

The farmers’ protest in Wrocław will begin at 6:00 a.m. in front of the Provincial Office. Then, with the support of miners, they will march through the streets of the city to the headquarters of the European Commission.
