Brazil Soybean Meal Exports to EU Exceed 50% Market Share

Brazil soybean meal exports to the European Union have reached a significant milestone this year. As of March 29, the European Union imported 6.78 million tons of soybean meal from Brazil since the beginning of the year, a decrease of 3.9% compared to the previous year. However, its share increased from 49.8% last year to 50.5%, according to European Commission data.

Brazil Soybean Meal Exports: Production Growth

The country is actively increasing its exports of both soybeans and processed products. Furthermore, according to a report from the Foreign Agricultural Information Service of the United States Department of Agriculture (FAS USDA), soybean production is estimated at 184 million tons, 3.3% higher than the projected volume of 178 million tons for 2025-2026.

Acreage and Yield Projections

The soybean crop area will reach 50.5 million hectares in 2026-2027, up 2.8% from last year. Additionally, yields will increase by 1% to 3.64 tons per hectare compared to last season, but will be almost 6% higher than the average yield recorded over the past five years.

EU Production Context

Earlier, the German Union for the Promotion of Oilseeds and Grains (UFOP) reported that the EU soybean harvest would increase by 2%.
