Canada canola exports decline significantly this season according to CGC data. As of March 29, Canada has exported 33.5 million tonnes of grains, pulses, and oilseeds since the start of the 2025/26 economic year (August 1), down 2% from the same period last season, according to Grain Online, citing the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC).
Canada Canola Exports Decline: Key Commodities
In particular, exports of commercial rapeseed (canola) this season have decreased to 5.3 million tonnes (-23% compared to the same period last season), while corn has fallen to 0.4 million tonnes (-73%).
Rising Exports in Other Crops
At the same time, exports of soft wheat have increased to 14.5 million tonnes (+4%), durum wheat to 3.8 million tonnes (+4%), barley to 2.3 million tonnes (+70%), peas to 1.8 million tonnes (+24%), and lentils to 1 million tonnes (+20%).
Soybean and Russian Rapeseed Comparison
Analysts estimate soybean exports at 3.6 million tons, the same as last year. Furthermore, Russian rapeseed exports, on the other hand, are showing growth: over the first six months of the 2025/26 season, seed exports increased by 14% to 449,000 tons. Additionally, exporters sent almost the entire volume to Belarus.
