Russia is stably among the five largest grain exporters in the world and occupies a leading position in wheat exports, also thanks to record production volumes in the last two seasons, the federal center Agroexport reported in its Telegram channel.
According to Agroexport’s preliminary calculations, wheat exports from Russia could reach 56.9 million tons by 2030, and the total amount of grain could reach 75 million tons. Deliveries of grain legumes to the world market could increase to 4.8 million tons by 2030, including 3.7 million tons of peas.
Wheat and barley are traditionally the mainstays of grain exports. According to expert estimates, Russia supplied more than 35.8 million tons of wheat (8% volume growth compared to the same period last year) and more than 5.7 million tons of barley (50% volume growth compared to the same period last year) to world markets in the first eight months of 2024.
A record 6 million tons of grain legumes were harvested in 2023. In many ways, the growth of the grain legume market in Russia is due to the supply of peas to China and India. According to expert estimates, Russia exported more than 1.5 million tons of peas in the first eight months of 2024 (an increase of about 35% in physical terms and about 50% in terms of value).
