USDA July report – data for Russia, the EU, Kazakhstan and Ukraine

In its July report, the US Department of Agriculture left its forecast of 83 million tons of wheat harvested in Russia in the current crop year (July 2024-June 2025) unchanged. The estimate of ending stocks carried forward was lowered from 7.74 million to 6.74 million tons.

The forecast for the Russian Federation’s wheat exports remained at 48 million tons.

The forecast for the corn harvest was lowered to 15 million tons (-400 thousand tons compared to the June report). Corn exports are estimated at 4.6 million tons (-400 thousand tons), while carryover stocks are estimated at 0.41 million tons (unchanged).

Coarse grain production is lowered from 40.43 million to 39.23 million tons, exports are estimated at 9 million tons (10.2 million), while carryover stocks are estimated at 1.21 million tons (1.22 million).

The estimate of wheat exports for Russia’s main competitor, the European Union, is lowered by 0.5 million tons to 34.5 million tons. The forecast for wheat production in the EU was also lowered by 0.5 million tons to 130 million tons.

Wheat exports from Ukraine are estimated to remain unchanged at 13 million tons. The forecast for the wheat harvest remains at 19.5 million tons and ending stocks at 0.96 million tons. The forecast for maize production remains at 27.7 million tons. Corn exports also remain unchanged at 24.5 million tons.

The estimate for the wheat harvest in Kazakhstan remained unchanged at 14.5 million tons. Exports also remained unchanged at 10.5 million tons. Estimated carryover stocks are estimated at 2.18 million tons.

The forecast for the global wheat harvest in the current marketing year was raised to 796.19 million tons (+5.44 million), for feed grains to 1 billion 512.38 million tons (1 billion 511.19 million tons in the last report) and for corn to 1 billion 224.79 million tons (1 billion 220.54 million tons).
