USDA again downgrades sunflower and oil forecast for Ukraine

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has lowered its forecast for the production of sunflowers and sunflower products in Ukraine in the 2024/25 marketing year. This is based on data from the USDA report for September.

According to the report, the sunflower harvest is estimated at 12.5 million tons, which is 1 million tons less than in August. The experts have left the forecast for oilseed exports at 230 thousand tons.

According to the experts, sunflower oil production in Ukraine in the 2024/25 marketing year will amount to 5.226 million tons (-430 thousand tons), of which 4.825 million tons (-400 thousand tons) will be exported.

Flour production will amount to 5.018 million tons (-413,000 tons) and exports are estimated at 3.925 million tons (-300,000 tons).

The experts expect a global sunflower harvest of 50.553 million tons (-1.96 million tons compared to the previous month’s forecast), oil production of 19.815 million tons (-764,000 tons) and sunflower meal production of 20.951 million tons (-819,000 tons).
