US Department of Agriculture once again lowers its forecast for Russian wheat exports

In its February report, the U.S. Department of Agriculture left unchanged its forecast of wheat harvest in Russia in the current crop year (July 2024-June 2025) at 81.5 million tons. The estimate of carryover ending stocks was raised from 9.24 million to 9.74 million tons.

The forecast for Russian wheat exports is lowered again and estimated at 45.5 million tons (-0.5 million tons to the January report).

The forecast for corn harvest remained unchanged at 13.25 million tons. Corn exports are also unchanged at 3.3 million tons, with carryover stocks at 0.36 million tons.

Coarse grain production remained unchanged at 33.97 million tons, exports are estimated at 6.25 million tons (6.23 million last month), carryover stocks will be 0.86 million tons.

Wheat export estimates for the European Union were lowered by 1 million to 28 million tons. At the same time, the EU wheat production forecast remained unchanged at 121.3 million tons.

The forecast of wheat harvest in Ukraine, as in the previous report, is estimated at 22.9 million tons. Wheat exports are reduced by 0.5 million to 15.5 million tons, with ending stocks at 1.29 million tons. The forecast of corn production is unchanged at 26.5 million tons, while the forecast of exports is lowered by 1 million to 22 million tons.

The estimate of wheat harvest in Kazakhstan was raised from 18 million to 18.58 million tons. Exports remained unchanged – 10 million tons. Transient ending stocks are estimated at 4.22 million tons.

The forecast of the world wheat harvest in the current agricultural year is slightly increased and will be 793.79 million tons (550 thousand), feed grain – 1 billion 492.52 million tons (1 billion 494.29 million tons in the last report), corn – 1 billion 212.47 million tons (1 billion 214.35 million tons).
