During discussions in Riyadh, representatives from the U.S. and Russia reached an agreement to promote safe navigation in the Black Sea, as reported by Interfax, referencing the White House press office.
According to the report, “The United States and Russia concurred on the importance of ensuring safe navigation, prohibiting the use of force, and preventing the utilization of commercial vessels for military activities within the Black Sea.”
A similar agreement was also established with a group of Ukrainian experts, stated a subsequent press release.
Furthermore, the U.S. committed to assisting Russia in regaining access to global markets for agricultural products and fertilizers, facilitating port access for the transportation of these goods, as well as securing access to payment systems for transactions involving these products.
Additionally, the press release noted that both parties agreed to develop strategies to enact the understanding between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin regarding a moratorium on strikes targeting energy infrastructure in both Russia and Ukraine. Moreover, they expressed their commitment to ongoing efforts aimed at achieving a stable and enduring peace, while also acknowledging third-party initiatives to support the agreements concerning the Black Sea arrangement and the moratorium.
