Turkey announces new corn import quota

Turkey has declared the establishment of a new duty-free corn import quota set at 1 million tons, as reported by the Grain On-Line agency citing European traders. This quota will remain valid until July 31, 2025.

Market insiders indicate that only about half of this new quota may actually be available for importation, given that approximately 500,000 tons of corn are currently held in customs warehouses pending clearance.

The initial corn import quota of 1 million tons for this year was valid until June 30 but was fully utilized by April 29 due to strong feed demand. Imports under this first quota incurred a 5% duty, whereas any imports beyond the quota faced a 130% tariff.
