Kazakhstan and Turkey have signed a USD 2 billion investment agreement aimed at developing the agro-industrial sector and trade in agricultural products, according to the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture.
Kazakhstan and Turkey, the two largest wheat producers and flour exporters in the region, have seen an increase in agricultural trade between the two countries in recent years. At the end of last year, trade turnover in agricultural products between Kazakhstan and Turkey increased by 13% to 325 million US dollars, and in the first five months of this year it was 137 million US dollars. This figure is set to double in the near future. This was stated by Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov during a working visit to Ankara. There he met with his Turkish counterpart Ibrahim Yumakli, who expressed his willingness to cooperate.
According to the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture, Kazakhstan has successfully completed six investment projects with Turkish investors and plans to implement 10 more projects with a total value of 553 million US dollars. These projects include the construction of greenhouse complexes, facilities for the deep processing of wheat, beans and oilseeds as well as storage facilities for vegetables.
