USDA Lowers Russian Wheat Export Forecast in March Report

USDA lowers Russian wheat export forecast in its latest assessment. Specifically, the U.S. Department of Agriculture left its forecast for Russia’s wheat harvest in the current crop year (July 2025 – June 2026) unchanged at 89.5 million tons. Furthermore, the estimate for carryover ending stocks rose from 14.69 million to 15.19 million. Additionally, the forecast for Russian wheat exports dropped by 0.5 million tons compared to the February report. Consequently, exports now stand at 43.5 million tons.

Other Russian Crop Forecasts

The corn harvest forecast remained at 14.5 million tons. Meanwhile, corn exports also stayed unchanged at 3 million tons. Furthermore, carryover stocks hold at 1.06 million tons.

The feed grain forecast remained unchanged as well. Moreover, production will total 39.05 million tons. Additionally, exports are estimated at 7.33 million tons. Meanwhile, carryover stocks sit at 2.23 million tons.

Competitor and Regional Adjustments

The wheat export estimate for Russia’s competitor, the European Union, has dropped again by 1 million tons to 30.5 million tons. Furthermore, the EU wheat production forecast remains unchanged at 144 million tons.

The wheat harvest forecast for Ukraine has increased by 1 million tons to 24 million tons. Conversely, the wheat export estimate has dropped to 13.5 million tons (-0.5 million tons). Moreover, the gross corn harvest has risen from 29 million tons to 30.7 million tons. Meanwhile, corn exports remain unchanged at 22 million tons.

The wheat harvest estimate for Kazakhstan has risen to 19.33 million tons (+0.43 million tons). Furthermore, exports have also increased to 10.5 million tons (+0.8 million tons). Additionally, the forecast for the world wheat harvest in the new agricultural year is 842.12 million tons (+0.32 million compared to the previous report). Meanwhile, feed grain stands at 1 billion 593.13 million tons (+2.7 million). Moreover, corn reaches 1 billion 297.44 million tons (+1.53 million).
