Russia may increase the share of wheat in grain exports in 2025 by limiting the export of corn, barley and rye. Russian Deputy Agriculture Minister Maxim Titov told TASS journalists.
“We have about 80% of wheat historically. Maybe this share will be a little more in 2025, although I think it will be plus or minus the same. More may be due to the fact that from February to June we will have limited exports of corn, barley and rye, that is, the main volume will be wheat, so the share may be slightly higher. But I think, plus or minus in historical values,” Titov said.
Earlier, the Russian government set a tariff quota of 10.6 million tons for the export of grain crops from the country outside the Eurasian Economic Union, which will be valid from February 15 to June 30, 2025. Thus, the quota for the export of wheat and meslin will amount to 10.6 million tons, barley, rye and corn – 0 tons.
Earlier, the Russian Grain Union reported that in the first half of the current agricultural season Russia shipped for export 34 million 257 thousand tons of major grains and legumes, which is 5.4% less than in the same period of the season 2022/23. shipments of wheat increased by 0.7% to 30 million tons, barley – fell by 27% to 2.9 million tons, corn – by 46% to 1 million 284 thousand tons. The official forecast for grain exports from Russia for the current season is 55-60 million tons.
