Wheat quality in France continues to deteriorate

Last week, the proportion of common winter wheat sown in good and excellent condition in France fell by a further 2% to 50%, 18 percentage points less than a year ago. This was reported by the state agency FranceAgriMer.
On July 22, only 41% of the soft winter wheat area had been threshed (76% at the same time last year and 67% on average over the last five years),

The condition of the maize crops has improved slightly. The proportion of crops in good to excellent condition rose by 1 % to 82 % over the course of the week and was thus 1 % higher than a year ago.

Winter barley was harvested on 93 % of the area, 6 percentage points less than at the same time last year and 4 percentage points less than the five-year average.

The harvest of spring barley is also delayed. By July 22, spring barley had been harvested on 31% of the area, which is 54 percentage points less than at the same time last year and 30 percentage points less than the average for the last five years.
