In 2024, Russia supplied almost $300 million worth of wheat and wheat-rye flour to foreign markets, the federal center Agroexport reported in its Telegram channel. Compared to 2023, the export volume increased by 3% in value terms and 7% in physical terms.
The largest buyer of domestic flour in 2024 was Afghanistan, the world leader in terms of product imports in recent years. According to preliminary data, in the first 12 months of the year the Central Asian country received $80 mln worth of flour, which is twice as much as last year’s figure.
China also entered the top 3 importers of Russian wheat flour in 2024. The third place is occupied by Turkmenistan. Flour exports to Iran increased 18 times, 6 times – to Mongolia, 1.9 times – to Thailand, 1.6 times – to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
China and the markets of the near abroad countries, which are characterized by a steady demand for Russian products, are considered to be the key sales directions. A number of other Asian countries, the Persian Gulf and African countries are also promising export destinations.
The Federal Center “Agroexport” estimates that by 2030 Russian exports of wheat and wheat-rye flour may exceed $440 million.
