In the first 9 months of 2024, exports of wheat or wheat rye flour amounted to more than 920 thousand tons. In the same period of the previous year, around 720 thousand tons were shipped. Compared to the previous year, the volume of shipments has physically increased by 1.3 times, reports the Federal Agroexport Center in its Telegram channel.
The main importers of flour in 2024:
- 1st place – Afghanistan;
- 2nd place – China;
- 3rd place – Iraq.
“The increase in Russian flour exports in 2024 is due to a number of factors, including the limited supply of grain and flour by some major suppliers, the weakening of the ruble against other foreign currencies and the expansion of the geographical distribution of supply. There is potential for further growth in flour exports: the pace will be influenced by the economic and geopolitical situation. MAKFA has increased flour exports by 54% in the first 9 months of this year compared to the same period in 2023. To date, flour is exported to more than 20 countries under the “MAKFA” brand.
Flour deliveries are still primarily destined for countries in the near abroad, while the proportion of deliveries to neighboring countries is increasing. MAKFA relies on consistently high product quality and brand awareness, therefore the main sales channels are retail and traditional retail, where flour in small packages is in demand”, – Nikita Ivantsov, Head of the ‘Strategic Development for Far Abroad’ Department of MAKFA JSC, commented to ‘Agroexport’.
According to Agroexport’s preliminary calculations, the volume of Russian supplies of wheat or wheat-rye flour could reach 1.7 million tons by 2030.
