Russian farmers have already harvested more than 50 million tons of grain and legumes in 2024, including more than 43 million tons of wheat. This was reported by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev to TASS. At this time in 2023, the figure was around 25 million tons.
“It must be said that the harvest is difficult – drought in some areas, rain in others. But nevertheless, I repeat, the pace is good, the results are better than last year, the main thing is that we continue to work so effectively,” the deputy prime minister said.
On Tuesday, the Deputy Prime Minister visited the fields of the agricultural enterprise JSC “Zarya to A. F. Popov” to familiarize himself with the state of the harvesting campaign in the Tula region. A. F. Popov” in the Kireyevsky district. In total, about 35 thousand tons of grain, legumes and oilseeds are to be harvested here this year.
According to the press service of the Deputy Prime Minister, by July 22, 2024, farmers of the Tula region harvested winter wheat on 29.4 thousand hectares with an average yield of 44.6 centners per hectare and 131 thousand tons. Barley was harvested on 2.8 thousand hectares – 12.4 thousand tons. Winter rapeseed was threshed on an area of 3.6 thousand hectares and 9.3 thousand tons were harvested with a yield of 25.8 quintals per hectare. It is expected that the final figures of the Tula region will be: Grain – 2.3 million tons, oilseeds – 425 thousand tons, potatoes – 500 thousand tons, vegetables – 65 thousand tons.
It should be recalled that in 2023 the second largest grain harvest in the history of Russia was obtained – about 143 million tons, taking into account the new regions – about 147 million tons.
At the end of June, Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut said that the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia maintains the forecast for the grain harvest in 2024 at 132 million tons of grain and about 28 million tons of oilseeds.
