Russian farmers are nearing the completion of the harvest season, having collected 137 million tons of grain in bunker weight. Agriculture Minister Lut stated only 6% of the harvest area remains to be completed. The ministry confirms its forecast of a harvest of 135 million tons in net weight.

The minister said that the harvesting of grain crops is difficult in the Siberian regions, with a lag of one million hectares. This is due to weather conditions, she said. However, despite the weather difficulties, yields in Siberia are growing. Lut predicts an 8-million-ton soybean harvest in 2025, enough to meet domestic demand.

As of October 21, farmers had harvested soybeans on more than 70% of the planted area, according to OleoScope analysts. They had threshed 3.5 million hectares and harvested 7.4 million tons of beans, a 13% increase compared to the previous year. The average yield across the country was 21.5 cwt/ha, which is 3.7 cwt/ha higher than last year’s figures.

There has also been success with other crops. “We have harvested 48 million tons of sugar beets and are expected to produce 7 million tons of sugar, with an export potential of 1 million tons,” the minister said.

Oksana Lut reported Russia’s agricultural exports reached $28.6 billion since the year’s start the day before. Exports of high value-added products have shown positive dynamics this year, with sales of confectionery products increasing by 5% and mayonnaise by 23%.
