Operational data from the European Commission as of September 7 show that rapeseed imports into the EU in 2025/26 MY decreased by 52%, with a significant reduction in the share of imports from Australia and Ukraine.
As of September 7, 2025, Ukraine was the largest supplier of rapeseed to the EU: supplies reached 179 thousand tons, but were 70.2% less than a year earlier, and its market share fell from 58.0% to 36.3%.
Australia became the second largest supplier: supplies reached 134 thousand tons, which is 61.8% less than in the previous year, and its market share decreased from 34.0% to 27.4%.
Moldova became the third largest supplier: supplies reached 90 thousand tons, which is 114.1% more than in the same period last year, and its market share increased from 4.1% to 18.3%.
Total rapeseed imports into the EU since the beginning of the season amounted to 490,000 tons, compared to 440,000 tons in the same period a year earlier.
In 2024/25 MY, the EU imported 7.447 million tons of rapeseed, which was 31% more than in the previous year. Of this, 3.51 million tons were imported from Australia, which is 87.7% more than a year earlier. This country’s market share increased from 33.0% to 47.1%. Imports from Ukraine amounted to 2.41 million tons, down 23.7% compared to the previous year. Its market share remained unchanged at 55.6% to 32.4%. Imports from Canada amounted to 1.13 million tons, an increase of 999% compared to the previous year. This country’s market share also increased significantly from 1.8% to 15.2%.
Earlier, analysts noted that supplies of vegetable meal to EU markets from Ukraine had also fallen sharply. The country’s market share fell from 62% to 40%.
