Al Khaleej Sugar, a leading global player in the sugar industry based in the United Arab Emirates, is exploring the option of establishing a sugar manufacturing plant in Kazakhstan’s Almaty region, according to a statement from the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture.

During a meeting between Marat Sultangaziev, Akim of Almaty region, and Sheikh Jamal Al Ghurair, the company’s managing director, potential areas of collaboration were examined. The discussion focused on crucial matters such as selecting an appropriate land parcel, planning the cultivation of sugar beet fields, securing water supply, and ensuring the factory’s energy provision.

Currently, a site near the town of Konaev is considered the most favorable location for the project due to its advantageous logistical position.

Sheikh Jamal Al Ghurair emphasized the company’s commitment to developing a fully self-sufficient facility powered by renewable energy, aiming to reduce environmental impact to a minimum.

Al Khaleej Sugar stands as the largest independent sugar refinery worldwide, contributing approximately 3% to the global refined sugar market. Besides sugar production, the company boasts a strong track record in diverse industries including manufacturing, construction, and real estate development.
