According to Oil World estimates, Malaysia exported 91 thousand tons of palm oil in June, which is 42% higher than the level reported in 2023 (64 thousand tons).
Experts note that global demand for Malaysian palm oil has increased against the backdrop of lower supply from Indonesia and Central America. The increase in exports led to a reduction in domestic palm oil stocks in Malaysia to the minimum of the last 23 months – to 328 thousand tons.
In total, Malaysia has shipped 471 thousand tons to foreign markets since the beginning of 2024 (449 thousand tons – in the period January-June 2023), including 101 (85) thousand tons to the EU, 59 (45) thousand tons to India and 55 (69) thousand tons to China.
It should be noted that since the beginning of July, there has been an active growth in palm oil exports from Malaysia – 800 thousand tons were shipped from July 1 to July 15 – the maximum in recent years (+50% for the year).
