Kazakhstan has harvested a record crop of 26.5 million tons of grain this year (compared to 17.1 million tons last year), of which 12 million tons of grain and 1 million tons of oilseeds can be exported, the country’s authorities said after summarizing the harvest results.
The Ministry of Agriculture attributed the high harvest to favourable weather conditions, the use of quality seeds and mineral fertilizers.
Kazakhstan is expected to export 7-7.5 million tons of wheat, 1.3-1.4 million tons of barley, 300,000 tons of corn and 1 million tons of oilseeds. Around 4.2 million tons of grain will be delivered to Central Asian countries and Afghanistan.
In 2023, Kazakhstan increased its grain exports to China by 5.5 times compared to the previous year to 1.431 million tons, including wheat, by 15 times to 538.8 thousand tons.
This year, the country’s government has created all the necessary conditions for high-quality and timely sowing and harvesting. The volume of preferential financing for the industry reached a record 580 billion tenge or 1.2 billion US dollars, which was made available to farmers for direct loans, forward purchases and reduced interest rates. In 2025, financing for the industry will increase to 700 billion tenge.
