Russia exported a record 5.6 million tons of wheat in August, Interfax reports, citing data from the Rusagrotrans AG analysis center.
The record was set despite strong competition from Eastern European wheat, the restraint of export sales on the domestic market and the import ban on Kazakhstan,” the analysts said. The previous record was set a year ago (5.4 million tons). In total, exports in the two months of the winter semester 2024/25 reached 9.4 million tons, which is almost comparable to July-August 2023, when 9.6 million tons of Russian wheat were supplied to foreign markets,” the report said.
In September, analysts expected wheat exports (including the EAEU countries) to reach 5.3 million tons compared to 5.5 million tons a year earlier.
According to Rusagrotrans, prices for wheat (4th class, 12.5% protein) in deep-water ports increased by 450 rubles to 16300-16400 rubles per ton (excluding VAT, CPT Novorossiysk) for delivery by road, while for low-water they decreased by 200 rubles to 14300 rubles. The price for delivery by rail amounted to RUB 17000-17200 per ton compared to RUB 17300 in the previous week.
