According to operational data from the Ministry of Agricultural Policy, cereals and pulses were harvested in Ukraine by August 8 on a total area of 6.521 million hectares, which corresponds to 59% of the planned area. The gross grain harvest is estimated at 27.322 million tons with an average yield of 41.9 quintals per hectare.
The dynamics of the harvest for the individual crops are as follows:
- Wheat – 20.94 million tons on 4.73 million hectares (97% of the plan) with a yield of 44.2 hundredweight per hectare;
- Barley – 5.2 million tons on 1.37 million hectares (98% of the plan) with a yield of 38.1 hundredweight per hectare;
- Peas – 457.7 thousand tons on 207.6 thousand hectares (99%) with a yield of 22.1 quintals per hectare;
- Buckwheat – 1.8 thousand tons from 1.5 thousand hectares (2%) with a yield of 12.4 quintals per hectare;
- Millet – 4.45 thousand tons from 1.9 thousand hectares (2%) with a yield of 23.4 quintals per hectare;
- Other cereals and legumes – 719.3 thousand tons on 210 thousand hectares (59%) with a yield of 34.3 quintals per hectare.
“By the area of threshed grain crops, the leading farmers are the Odessa region – 1.073 million hectares. The Khmelnitsky region is ahead in terms of yield with an indicator of 65.1 quintals per hectare,” the ministry said.
As of August 8, 1.22 million hectares of oilseed rape had been harvested, which corresponds to 97% of the planned area. On this area, 3.318 million tons of oilseeds were harvested with a yield of 27.2 centners per hectare. The indicators for soybeans remained practically unchanged this week – 1 thousand tons of soybeans were harvested on 0.7 thousand hectares with a yield of 15.2 centners per hectare.
