The European Commission reports that, from the start of the 2024/25 marketing year until March 4, EU nations have exported a total of 14.7 million tons of wheat and its processed forms, representing a decrease of 37% compared to the same timeframe last season.
Specifically, the exports of soft wheat for this period are estimated at 13.94 million tons, which marks a 30% decline from the previous year’s figures. The top recipients of European soft wheat in the 2024/25 marketing year include Nigeria (2.01 million tons), Morocco (1.6 million tons), Great Britain (1.02 million tons), Algeria (1.01 million tons), and Egypt (882.4 thousand tons).
In contrast, durum wheat exports from the EU for the current season are calculated to be 427.1 thousand tons, reflecting a 2% increase from the last year’s numbers. The highest quantities of this grain have been exported to Tunisia (181 thousand tons) and Algeria (113 thousand tons).
