Imports of soybeans into the European Union in the 2024/25 season, which began in July, amounted to 2.62 million tons by September 15, compared to 2.61 million tons in the previous year. This is according to data published by Oilworld.co.uk citing a European Commission report on Tuesday.
EU rapeseed imports rose by 37% to 1.05 million tons in the same period, up from 0.77 million tons the previous year. Sunflower imports increased by 71% from 50,300 tons to 85,900 tons.
Imports of soybean oil fell by 69% to 58,400 tons compared to 190,300 tons at the same time last year. Sunflower oil was imported 37% less – 339.2 thousand tons compared to 539.9 thousand tons. Rapeseed oil was imported 56% less – 54.7 thousand tons compared to 123.8 thousand tons. Imports of palm oil also fell by 38% to 539.6 thousand tons compared to 879.3 thousand tons.
