During the first eight months of the ongoing season (July 2024 to February 2025), EU member states imported 3.84 thousand tons of vegetable oils from Russia – a figure that is 4.7 times lower than that recorded for the corresponding period in the 2023/24 season. This information was provided by Grain On-Line, citing the European Commission.
Since the season’s start, imports of Russian rapeseed oil reached 2 thousand tons, while sunflower oil imports totaled 1.67 thousand tons.
Data from OleoScope indicate that vegetable oil production between September and February of the 2024/2025 season saw a modest 2% rise compared to the same months in 2023/2024, increasing from 5.09 million tons to 5.17 million tons. The most significant growth was observed in rapeseed oil production, which rose by 7%, or 51 thousand tons, reaching 750 thousand tons by the end of the first half of the current season.
