According to Reuters, Egypt has currently acquired approximately 466,270 tons of domestically produced wheat for its state reserves, marking a 37% increase compared to the same timeframe last year.

Overall, the Egyptian government aims to procure no less than 4 million tons of grain this year for state reserves, reflecting a 1% rise from the previous year, supported by a 10% boost in purchase prices. Should this target be met, wheat imports are expected to reach around 6 million tons.

The procurement of locally grown wheat customarily starts in mid-April and continues through to mid-July.
