According to the head of Egypt’s General Authority for Supply and Commodities (GASC) Hossam El-Grahy, the country is seeking to increase state wheat stocks to meet domestic demand for up to 6 months by contracting large volume purchases, Asharq Business reported.
In particular, it is planned to contract up to 900,000 tons of the grain within the next month.
Currently, Egypt’s domestic wheat stocks are sufficient to meet domestic demand for the next 3.8 months.
