In January and February of this year, corn emerged as the leading exported product from Ukraine, according to a report by the State Customs Service.

“The export of this cereal reached 4.7 million tons, valued at $982 million, since the start of the year. It has become a significant export item, constituting 26.5% of the country’s agricultural exports and 16% of all exports from Ukraine,” the report indicated.

Spain received the highest volume, importing 933 thousand tons, followed by Italy with 725 thousand tons, Turkey with 639 thousand tons, Egypt with 593 thousand tons, and the Netherlands with 514 thousand tons.

Additionally, it was previously reported that Ukraine and Turkey have formalized a protocol to enhance cooperation in agriculture. Key agreements include increasing the purchase volumes of Ukrainian goods, particularly corn and oil, while Turkey aims to supply tractors and other agricultural machinery to Ukraine.

Prior to this, Taras Vysotskyy, the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, noted that the Ukrainian agricultural industry is heavily export-oriented, accounting for 60-70 percent of its focus, which in turn influences global consumption patterns.
