The construction of a new grain terminal in Gdansk has officially started. This project marks a significant investment in Poland’s grain export infrastructure. The new facility aims to bolster the country’s position as a key player in the global grain market.
New Grain Terminal Gdansk: A Boost for Polish Exports
Construction has commenced on a new grain terminal within the Polish port of Gdansk. First, the company Q Terminals is developing this project. The estimated cost is approximately 90 million euros. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025. This terminal will significantly increase Poland’s grain handling capacity.
Moreover, the new terminal will have a storage capacity of 64,000 tons. It will also have the capacity to load 1,200 tons per hour. This is a substantial improvement. Furthermore, the terminal will be capable of handling vessels with a draft of up to 15 meters. This allows access for larger ships. As a result, logistical efficiency will improve significantly. The design also allows expansion to increase storage capacity to 128,000 tons in the future.
Details of the Project
Q Terminals, a joint venture between the Qatar-based Qatari Diar and Polish partner Lotos, is behind the project. Besides Q Terminals, the project is also backed by ING Bank Śląski. The bank provided the project with substantial financing.
