According to UNICA, Brazil’s total ethanol production in 2024 was the highest ever, totaling 36.83 billion liters, up 4.4% from 2023. This made Brazil the second largest ethanol producer in the world after the US.
Of this total, 7.7 billion liters was made from corn, up 32.8% from the previous year.
Fuel consumption by light vehicles in Brazil in 2024 was 59.3 billion liters. aqueous ethanol consumption increased by 5.4 billion liters.
According to UNICA data, sugar mills in Brazil’s south-central region sold 1.39 billion liters of ethanol in the first half of January, up 2.6%, compared to the same period of the previous MY 2023/24 season.
Anhydrous ethanol sales reached 551.24 million liters, compared to 511.1 million liters in the same period of January 2024. Anhydrous ethanol sales decreased to 841.7 million liters from 846.1 million liters in the same period a year earlier.
