Brazil grain production in the 2025-2026 crop year could reach 356.3 million tons. Furthermore, this represents an increase of 4.1 million tons compared to the previous year. The National Supply Company (Conab) released this latest forecast.
Brazil Grain Production: Record Soybean Yields Drive Growth
In its seventh grain bulletin, published on April 14, Conab revised its production forecast upward by 2.9 million tons. Moreover, this revision compared to the March report would set a new production record if realized. The current cropping area is forecast at 83.3 million hectares. Additionally, this represents a 2% increase from the previous year.
Conab forecasts a new record for soybean production, estimated at 179.2 million tons. Meanwhile, reduced rainfall in March provided better harvesting conditions. Consequently, the harvest now covers 85.7% of the field area, the service notes.
“Even though average yields in important soybean-producing states were lower than in the previous cycle, the average national soybean yield reached a record high and is forecast at 3,696 kilograms per hectare this cycle,” Conab stated.
Corn and Rice Production Outlook
As for corn, the country’s second-largest crop, Conab forecasts total production at 139.6 million tonnes. However, this figure is down 1.1% from the previous year.
While the first-crop corn area increased by 4.1 million hectares and production increased by 28 million tonnes, the second-crop corn is expected to reach 109.1 million tonnes. Furthermore, this represents a 3.6% decrease from 2024-25.
The rice harvest is also expected to decline, estimated at 11.1 million tonnes. Moreover, this is down 13% from last year. This is mainly due to a 13% reduction in planted area, combined with less favourable weather conditions for some crops.
