According to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the country exported 2.13 million tons of wheat (including 2.1 thousand tons of durum wheat) in December, which exceeded both the November figure and the level in December 2023 (1.38 million tons), Grain Central reported.
Specifically, in bulk, Australia shipped 1.97 million tons of wheat in December, with the largest volume shipped to Indonesia (336,600 tons), Yemen (316,100 tons), the Philippines (297,600 tons), Vietnam (192,700 tons) and China (130,000 tons).
In terms of containerized exports, Thailand (28.6 thousand tons), Taiwan (24.7 thousand tons), Indonesia (23.3 thousand tons) and China (23.3 thousand tons) were the top markets.
According to Lachstock Consulting forecasts, Australia may ship 1.9 million tons of wheat in January and the same amount in February. India is expected to become the main buyer of grain.
