Rapeseed cultivation area increased by 30 percent across Russia in 2024

The area under spring and winter rapeseed increased by 30% across Russia in 2024, with the top ten regions recording an increase from 18% to 64%. In general, acreage increased in 49 regions, the RUSEED analysis center told pole.rf magazine.

“The area under rapeseed in Russia is showing significant dynamics, reflecting farmers’ interest in this crop and its economic attractiveness (the average profitability in the 2023/24 season was 31%). The area planted with spring rapeseed has been steadily increasing. In particular, sowing increased by 38% in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, by 50% in the Altai Territory (82.2 thousand hectares), by 64% in the Novosibirsk Territory (73.6 thousand hectares), by 47% in the Kemerovo Territory (63.7 thousand hectares) and by 57% in the Omsk Territory (59.5 thousand hectares).

RUSEED analysts had previously reported that the gross rapeseed harvest this year should also increase by 30% to a record level of 5.4 million tons despite the decline in yields.
