According to the USDA, the outlook for the corn crop in the US state of Illinois is the best it has been in 32 years. The current corn yield is estimated at 204.14 bushels per acre, well above the average for the 2023/24 marketing year (193.72 bushels per acre) and the average for the past three years (193.58 bushels per acre), reports Reuters.
It is also noted that the soybean crop in the state is expected to be quite large. In fact, the current pod count for the aforementioned oilseed is the highest since 2000 – averaging 1,419.11 pods, which is higher than last year’s tour average (1,270.61 pods) and the average of the last three years (1,266.7 pods).
