Astarta, an agro-industrial holding company based in Ukraine and operating with vertical integration, has unveiled plans to establish a seed processing facility in the Khmelnytskyi region of western Ukraine, with an investment of $76 million.
The company indicated that the new plant will have the capacity to process 400,000 tons of oilseeds annually, specifically targeting soybeans and rapeseed. This development is anticipated to enhance Astarta’s ingredient offerings for the feed industry, with operations projected to begin in 2026.
As reported by World Grain, Vyacheslav Chuk, Astarta’s chief officer for commercial and strategic marketing, stated, “The increasing demand for soy products within the EU presents new possibilities, and we are prepared to seize them with our experience and expertise.”
Ukraine ranks among the top global producers and exporters of oilseeds and cereals. According to the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the US Department of Agriculture, the country’s sunflower seed output for this season is expected to reach 11.5 million tons, while soybean production is projected at 5.1 million tons and rapeseed at 4 million tons.
