The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU, EEU) is an association of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia to form a single market with a customs union in north-eastern Eurasia. The Economic Union emerged from the Eurasian Economic Community with effect from January 1, 2015. The founding agreement was signed by Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia on May 29, 2014, with Kyrgyzstan joining on August 12, 2015. The aim of the Eurasian Economic Union is to facilitate the exchange of goods, capital, services and labor. The five countries also want to coordinate parts of their economic policy, following the example of the European Union.
