In the first two months of 2026, the country exported 4.54 million tonnes of crude and refined palm oil. This represents a 36.3% increase compared to the same period a year earlier. February figures and data scope for Indonesia palm oil export
In February, Indonesia exported 2.3 million tonnes of palm oil. Specifically, this was valued at $2.4 billion. However, export data does not include palm kernel oil, oleochemicals, and biodiesel.
Comparison with Malaysia’s palm oil performance
It was previously reported that Malaysia’s palm oil exports increased by 42.7% in March. Consequently, both major producers are seeing rising demand.
Reasons behind the price rally
Experts cite the sharp rise in tropical oils as a reason for the overall rise in prices for alternative oils. This is happening amid the energy and logistics crisis in the Middle East.
As OleoScope analysts previously calculated, sunflower oil export prices increased by more than 20% over the year. In contrast, palm oil was the only product that was cheaper mid-year than at the beginning (a low of $963 in May). By December, the price had recovered to $1,018. Nevertheless, the overall year closed in the red, with prices down 5.6% compared to January.
