Source: Zerno On-Line (Russia)

Russian wheat harvest 2026 could reach 87.6 million tons, according to the Sovecon analytical center. Furthermore, experts have increased forecasts by 1.7 million tons. Additionally, the revision is due to favorable weather conditions.

Analysts note:

  • an increase in winter wheat acreage;
  • improved yield forecasts;
  • generally favorable soil moisture reserves.

However, the moisture situation is uneven. Specifically, in the key region, the Rostov Region, they remain below average.

Winter and Spring Wheat Estimates

Analysts now estimate the winter wheat harvest at 64.6 million tons, up from 62.9 million tons a month earlier. Meanwhile, the spring wheat forecast remains at 23 million tons.

Russian wheat harvest 2026: Weather Risks and Outlook

Despite the increased forecast, the company considers more optimistic estimates premature. Moreover, analysts expect the main weather risks for the harvest in April and May.

SovEcon CEO Andrey Sizov noted: “The harvest is developing well so far, but the most weather-sensitive period is still ahead. It’s too early to confidently talk about a harvest of over 90 million tons.”

According to SovEcon, the new forecast remains below the 2025 result, when Russia harvested 91.1 million tons of wheat.
