According to the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, the anticipated soybean harvest in Argentina’s agricultural regions is increasing due to heavy rainfall over the past few days. However, it also indicated that crops in the northern farming areas still require irrigation. Argentina holds the position of the leading exporter of processed soybeans globally, with the current forecast estimating the harvest to be around 49.6 million metric tons.
In its weekly crop report, the exchange mentioned, “The precipitation during February and early March in the production centers contributed to the growth of early-season soybean grains, positively influencing yields.”
Regarding the corn crop for 2024/25, the exchange highlighted that recent rains have enhanced crop conditions in both Cordoba and Buenos Aires provinces, but have also caused flooding in certain fields located in central and southern Buenos Aires.
Farmers in the third-largest corn-exporting nation have managed to harvest approximately 8% of the expected crop, which is projected to total around 49 million tons, as reported by the bourse.
