The price of flax in Kazakhstan has more than doubled since the year start

Monitoring data from APK-Inform IA indicates that this week prices for oilseed flax are rising in the Kazakhstan market. The agency attributes this increase mainly to a limited supply of offers.

As of March 11, prices for flax in terms of demand ranged from 230,000 to 250,000 tenge per ton ($469-$509), reflecting a $20 per ton increase compared to the previous week. For context, at the beginning of the year, the average price for flax from the elevator was $213 per ton.

Furthermore, it has been reported that the area designated for oilseeds in the Republic is expected to expand by 365,000 hectares this year, reaching a total of 3.3 million hectares, with lineseeds expected to cover over 1 million hectares.
