According to the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan, stocks of oilseeds in the Republic on January 1, 2025 amounted to 2.57 million tons of oilseeds, compared to 2.52 thousand tons on the same date in 2024, of which 1 million 528.7 thousand tons – sunflower seeds, which is 33% higher than last year’s figure of 1.14 million tons.
Soybean stocks amounted to 78 thousand tons, compared to 69 thousand tons on January 1, 2024.
Other oilseeds, on the contrary, showed a decrease in stock levels: oilseed flax has 627,000 tons in stock, compared to 786,000 tons previously. Rapeseed stocks decreased to 226 thousand tons (against 235 thousand tons last year), safflower – even more significantly, to 77 thousand tons (in January 2024 – 271 thousand tons). There are also stored 24.4 thousand tons of mustard seeds, cotton seeds – 11.4 thousand tons and 634.1 tons of red oil seeds.
As reported earlier by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic, the gross harvest of oilseeds amounted to 3.2 million tons, which is 46% more than last year. Sunflower harvest has grown by 35%, 1 million 686.2 thousand tons were harvested with an average yield of 13.1 centners per hectare.
