For durum wheat, 184.8 thousand tons were harvested with a yield of 15.1 quintals per hectare. Of the 881.2 thousand hectares sown, 122.1 thousand hectares were threshed.

For barley, 8.8 million tons were harvested, which is 3.4 million tons less than a year ago. The decline is due to both the decrease in harvested areas and lower yields. 2.9 million hectares (40.5%) were threshed, 936,600 hectares less than a year ago, with a yield of 30.1 quintals/hectare compared to 31.6 quintals/hectare.

The maize harvest (for grain) has only just begun. 2.3 thousand hectares (0.1%) have been threshed, 7.9 thousand tons have been harvested with a yield of 34 quintals/hectare. A year ago at this time, the maize had not yet been harvested.

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture Andrei Razin, this year’s harvest is “quite tense, the weather is making its own adjustments”, but in general the Ministry of Agriculture is satisfied with the pace of the harvest. The quality of the wheat this year is better than last year, according to Razin.
