According to FranceAgriMer monitoring data, 98% of the planned area under common wheat in France has been harvested as of August 12, and the campaign is only continuing in the northern regions of the country.
The gross grain harvest is estimated at 26.3 million tons (-24% of the average indicator of the last 5 years). The protein content indicators (the national average is similar to last year’s) and the Hagberg fall number are generally satisfactory.
However, it should be remembered that the excessive moisture in the soil has hindered plant development, favored the spread of diseases and made harvesting more difficult. The area under common wheat in France has fallen to 4.2 million hectares this year, more than 10% below the average of the last five years.
