The quantity of durum wheat purchased by Algeria in the tender was 10 times higher than planned

According to updated data from European traders, the Algerian state grain agency OAIC bought around 500 thousand tons of durum wheat in the tender on August 14, Oilworld reports.

According to market participants, this quantity consisted of up to 275,000 tons of wheat from Canada and 225,000 tons from other countries, presumably including Turkey.

Originally, the tender envisaged the delivery of a nominal quantity of 50 thousand tons in four periods: from October 1 to 15, from October 16 to 31, from November 1 to 15 and from November 16 to 30 of this year.

Original purchase price estimates were USD 328-332 per ton C&F for Panamax deliveries and around USD 340 per ton C&F for smaller Handymax deliveries.
