In the 2023/2024 season, which ended on July 30, grain exports from Russia exceeded the record amount of 70 million tons, – reports “Interfax”, citing the Ministry of Agriculture.

The Ministry pointed out that the domestic demand for grain was fully covered thanks to the quota system. This year’s grain export quota amounted to 29 million tons. Russia has begun to impose quotas on the sale of grain abroad in 2020. The quotas are valid from February 15 to June 30 and are set annually based on the harvest and domestic demand.

In the past marketing year (2022-2023), grain exports amounted to 60 million tons, 47 million tons of which were wheat. This means that grain deliveries abroad increased by almost 17% last season.

For the current agricultural year, which began on 1 July 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture expects grain exports of up to 60 million tons due to a smaller harvest.

According to estimates by the Ministry of Agriculture and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, the harvest in 2024 will be 132 million tons.
