According to USDA crop tour data, the spring wheat harvest has begun in the US, and as of July 28, 1% of the acreage had been harvested, which is below last year’s result (2%) and the average of the last five years (3%).
As indicated, the condition of the crops of the aforementioned cereals deteriorated slightly during the week and the proportion of good and excellent condition fell from 77% to 74%, which is still above the previous year’s indicator (42%).
The harvest of winter wheat is also continuing, and at the time of reporting 82 % of the planned area had been harvested. The harvest rate is still significantly higher than last year (77 %) and the average of the last five years (80 %).
In terms of the condition of other crops, the proportion of maize sown in good to excellent condition rose to 68% (+1% this week; 55% a year ago), while the proportion of soybeans fell to 67% (-1; 52%).
