According to the results of the completed agricultural season (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024), Russia ranks first in the world in terms of wheat and barley exports, according to preliminary data. This was stated by Alexander Malov, Director of the Department for Regulation of Agricultural Markets of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, at a meeting of the Federation Council, TASS reported.
He pointed out that Russia generally ranks third in the world in terms of grain and the grain market and second in terms of the supply of sunflower oil. Malov also said that Russia currently exports agro-industrial products to more than 160 countries.
According to Oleoscope, based on last season’s results, Russia ranks third as an exporter of vegetable oils on the world market with a share of 8%, behind Indonesia and Malaysia. At the same time, Russia’s share of global deliveries of sunflower, rapeseed and soybean oil amounts to a total of 20%.
Earlier, Rosselkhoznadzor reported that exports of grain products in the completed agricultural season increased by 21% compared to the previous season and amounted to 89.3 million tons. Including barley, exports rose by 67% to 9.46 million tons.
At the end of May, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev stated at the All-Russian Grain Forum that Russia could export up to 70 million tons of grain in the 2023-2024 agricultural season, including around 53 million tons of wheat.
