In the past agricultural year (July 2023-June 2024), Russia delivered a record amount of wheat to Cuba – around 126 thousand tons, the Rusagrotrans analysis center told Interfax.
This is 1.7 times the previous year’s volume of 76,000 tons. Wheat exports to Cuba used to range between 20,000 and 40,000 tons per year.
Last season, 80 %, i.e. 101 thousand tons, were handled via the port of Vysotsky; before that, exports only took place via the port of Novorossiysk. Wheat for shipment to Cuba was transported to Vysotsky in Rusagrotrans grain wagons, also on routes from Siberia and the Urals. The exporter is the Novosibirsk Food Corporation.
Earlier it was reported that from January to May 2024, Rusagrotrans set a record in grain transportation in the export direction, reaching 4.8 million tons, 6% more than in 2023. The total volume of agricultural cargo was 6.8 million tons.
