The KZT is the official currency of Kazakhstan. It is called the Kazakh tenge (Казахстанский тенге in Russian, Қазақстан теңгесі in Kazakh). The word “tenge” is derived from the Mongolian word “teŋge”, which means “balance” or “equal”. The KZT was introduced on November 15, 1993. (Current exchange rate can be found here.)
